• Gallery Assistant04/27/2026DescriptionMatthew Marks Gallery seeks a full-time gallery assistant. The gallery assistant must be highly organized, personable, and versatile. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, excellent attention to detail, and a background in art history. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: - Greet visitors - Answer questions from the public - Direct incoming sales inquiries - Manage appointment system - Answer telephones - Maintain artist biographies - Prepare checklists for exhibitions - Update the gallery’s mailing list - Handle exhibition announcement and publication mailings - Sell gallery publications - Provide overall administrative support and assist gallery directors Key Skills/Experience: - Undergraduate degree - Knowledge of modern and contemporary art - Previous experience in a gallery, museum or auction house - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Attention to detail - Friendly and composed demeanor - Professionalism and discretion - Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment Competitive compensation, health insurance, 401K, paid vacation and holidays.How to applyPlease email your resume and cover letter to jobs@matthewmarks.com.
