Driving Instructor (Part-Time / Full-Time)

Job Type: Part-Time / Full-Time available

Pay: [$18.00 - $22.00] / hour (Licensed Instructors: up to $28/hour)

Premier Driving School LLC is Toledo’s modern destination for professional driver education. Having recently passed our state regulatory inspections, we are expanding our training team. We pride ourselves on professionalism and safety, operating a well-maintained fleet of dual-controlled instructional vehicles. We provide a supportive, high-integrity environment focused on shaping the next generation of safe drivers in Northwest Ohio.

We are seeking patient, clear-communicating, and professional individuals to provide behind-the-wheel and classroom instruction to teens and young adults.

$1,500 New Instructor Incentive: The Ohio Traffic Safety Office is currently offering a $1,500 monetary bonus directly to eligible new driving instructors who complete their certification and actively train students. We will sponsor you and guide you completely through this state certification process!

Key Responsibilities

• Provide patient, structured, and safe behind-the-wheel driving instruction adhering to the state-approved Class D curriculum.
• Teach students essential defensive driving habits, traffic laws, and specialized maneuvers (including the Ohio BMV maneuverability test).
• ​Maintain accurate student training logs and files in compliance with Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS) standards.
• Conduct standard pre-trip vehicle safety inspections using our daily checklist to ensure fleet integrity.
• Maintain a professional, calm, and encouraging environment in the vehicle at all times.

Qualifications & State Requirements

To become a state-certified driving instructor in Ohio, candidates must meet the following strict criteria:

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must have held a valid domestic driver’s license for at least five (5) consecutive years.
• Clean Driving Record: No more than 4 points within the last 3 years; no more than 2 moving violations or chargeable crashes within the last 3 years; no 12-point suspensions within the last 10 years.
• Must possess a High School Diploma or GED.
• Must be able to pass a standard physical health examination (ODPS physical form) signed by a licensed physician.
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check (BCI and FBI fingerprinting).
